About this Property

Summary:
Live like a local in this show-stopping three bedroom, two bath apartment located in downtown Charleston. Housed in an historic home dating to 1851, every detail of the rental was entirely refreshed in 2017 to feature antique heart pine floor, tongue and groove walls, European hardware dating to the original period of the home, a completely bespoke kitchen, brand new washer and dryer, and more.

The Space:
The floorplan is ideal for socializing with an open concept living room and eat-in kitchen on one end and the three bedrooms on the opposite end. The living room and kitchen look out on Cannon street, one of Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood’s most vibrant streets, home to many trendy stores and eateries all just steps from the rental.

The chef-ready bespoke kitchen features high-end kitchen appliances that make it convenient to whip up any meal – although with so many great eateries within blocks of the rental, it may be hard to resist going out for meals. Off of this living room/kitchen area is a classic Charleston porch, offering guests an outdoor area to visit and people watch.

All three bedrooms boast comfortable queen beds with plush linens. Two of the three bedrooms feature full ensuite bathrooms (shower and toilet – no baths). One of the two bathrooms opens both to the bedroom as well as the hallway, accepting the third bedroom to access the bathroom from the hallway just off the bedroom.

The rental is located on the second floor (spiral staircase!). Absolutely no events or late-nighttime noise will be tolerated.

Guest Access:
You have access to the enormous front porch with dedicated seating for only you, rear porch, and patio with big Green Egg charcoal grille, charcoal being complimentary of course.

The Neighborhood:
Once the site of colonial lumber mills, Cannonborough is now an inviting neighborhood blending beautiful historic and reproduction architecture. It's also located within walking distance of Upper King Street's elegant eateries, stores, and bars.

Getting Around:
There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are very common. You will not face any delay catching an uber.

Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street. Cannon Street dead ends into King where you would be right in the middle of all the activity - many nice eateries such as The Darling, the Grocery, Ordinary, Endaco, good places to have drinks like Stars, the Belmont, Midtown, Prohibition. There are also great niche eateries closer than King Street. Pick the experience - fine dining to casual outdoor dining, it is here. You could look up Hominy Grille, Chez Nous, Trattoria Lucca, Fuel, Goulette. Since Cannon Street (and Spring Street) are the only legal areas in the city to host an AirBnb in Charleston, you will be in good company here.

If you want the full Charleston experience you need to sign up for a walking tour or carriage tour, a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter numerous times daily so that you can land your two feet at exactly where the Civil War started.

Interaction with Guests:
We are available for questions and we're glad to assist in any way we can.

Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to book:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Charleston area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • To start, have your group choose dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Renovated 1850s Mansion in Downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
