Finding the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book your prefectrental home:
- First, have your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
- On Broad Street! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
