Booking the best rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Historic 1800s Cozy Costal Downtown Home has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
During your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
