Rental home tips:
When to visit Charleston & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Charming Second Floor Condo 6 Blocks To King has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
