Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in Charleston:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Charming Second Floor Condo 6 Blocks To King has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Tips for a great stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
