Our top Charleston area vacation rental booking tips:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking the bestrental:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Built in 1840 - Stunning Renovation
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
