How to find the best rental experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • The Elliott has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
