THE AREA
If you are not familiar with Charleston or this area, you can see we are slightly north of the College of Charleston on historic St. Philip Street. This striking apartment is the ideal base to enjoy an enchanting Charleston experience. Charleston is like Rome, Italy in that most of the notable monuments and historic details are found in a fairly contained area. You can literally walk from the apartment to the southernmost extremes of the Historic District in under thirty mins.. Passing antebellum homes and cobblestone streets, this journey will take you through the Historic King Street District and the neighborhoods of Cannonborough, Elliottborough, Radcliffborough, Harleston Village and finally South of Broad until you reach the Battery itself. Go east one block and you are on King Street, the home of designer stores, eclectic stores, antique stores and a host of other fascinating stores as well as nationally acclaimed eateries. Upper King is the new center of Charleston's acclaimed restaurant and nighttime life. A recent survey of the "essential 18 Charleston Eateries" has multiple of these eateries (Hominy Grille, The Grocery, The Macintosh, The Ordinary) within four blocks of the apartment. We also adore to walk to Five Loaves Cafe, Stella's Greek Restaurant, Goulette Rotisserie, Sugar Bakery and the Charleston Farmers Market at Marion Square. The South Carolina Aquarium and the Kids's Museum of the Low Country are close and a delight for both kids and parents. The Charleston Museum, one of the nation's first museums, is also within walking distance. We are excited to offer this handsome space on Vacation Rental By Owner.

If you visiting in Charleston and need to sleep from 2 to 72 people...in award winning historic properties...one block from King St. and .4 miles to Calhoun St...delightfully refreshed with striking decor and parking, St Philip Square is your answer!

You need to look carefully to realize our properties are noticeably closer to South of Broad, and our buildings are substantial historic buildings, with appeal and character not possible in new construction, in a community setting where groups can gather, in an area where it's possible to rent without the owner present, in properties that sparkle with gorgeous remodel and impressive decor. We have a unique offering for wedding groups, family get-togethers, business retreats, friends traveling together, honeymooners, anniversary celebrants or families with kids.

INSURANCE

We advise during the month of September particularly, and some into October, that you purchase the trip protection insurance. It is the peak of hurricane season in our area. We do not offer refunds or date changes for any reason outside the 60 day cancellation period.

Rental home booking tips:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. (8A) Alexander Wilson House at St. Philip Square has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
