DESCRIPTION OF THIS UNIT:
THE APARTMENT

Overlooking historic St Philip St. and one block from vibrant King St. this enormous, freshly modernized apartment is ideal for couples or families. The apartment is on the second floor. It consists of 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a gracious living room, a galley kitchen with eating area and a beautiful porch overlooking St Philip St.

BEDROOM 1 connects to the living room but is afforded privacy with locking double doors. The opening makes for a gracious entertaining area as the bedroom has a splendid Stella brass bed, delightful fireplace with original tiles and handsome
art.

The LIVING ROOM has 4 swivel chairs, with a West Elm queen couch sleeper with high end gel bed, a corner fireplace with handsome, original tiles and a flat screen tv above it. The bay windows overlook the porch. The room can be finished closed off to give a. 4th private sleeping space.

The front BATHROOM is modest. It has what we call a European shower in that the room is entirely tiled and serves as the shower. The dramatic rain shower with additional handheld fixture is pretty, works well and complements the enchanting stone floor. The Toto toilet is constructed into the wall and the gorgeous sink makes use of an old stair wall. We don't want anyone to be surprised or disappointed by this bathroom. It is modest but clever and it provides everything you need.

The second BATHROOM is at the other end of the hall. It has a enormous tiled shower, a sizable linen closet, a glamourous corner sink and a storage cabinet. Both bathrooms are available to the three bedrooms.

The second BEDROOM has a brand new king size bed with a huge closet and a writing table. It is in the "mid-century" style with a generous, dynamic piece of art over the bed. It has a roomy closet.

The third BEDROOM holds a queen bed, two nightstands with with reading lamps. It is at the end of the apartment next to the bigger bathroom. Its closet with a chest of drawers is across from the washer/dryer shown in the photo. It is smaller than the other two bedrooms but agreeably holds a charming queen bed.

PARKING

We have a sizable parking area behind the home. There is an Striking pathway leading from the parking area to the street entrance. Jamie, whose office is in the same area, will give you with a parking pass showing your assigned parking area. We have a “walk score” of 94, meaning we are “a walker’s heaven”. You will probably be delighted to leave your car in our lot and walk everywhere.

If you are visiting in Charleston and need to sleep from 2 to 72 people...in award winning historic units...delightfully refreshed with gorgeous decor, St Philip Square is your answer!

You need to look carefully to realize our units are noticeably closer to Calhoun/South of Broad historic district and our buildings are substantial historic buildings, with glamour and character not possible in new construction, in a community setting where groups can gather, in an area where it's possible to rent without the owner present, in units that sparkle with impressive remodel and appealing decor. We have a unique offering for wedding groups, family get-togethers, work retreats, friends traveling together, honeymooners, anniversary celebrants or families with children.

St Philip Square offers 8 units within a "square" that opens onto a shared parking area. Each apartment is a separate unit with unique characteristics. It is the ideal opportunity for groups of all sizes to organize a joint rental but each apartment is separate and is its own place.
The vrbo numbers for the other units are:
1531369 1446527. 1994546. 1994547 1994550
1351757. 1662029. 834186. 567555. 467877
1994548 1994549
(You might have to put ha at the end. Or vr.)
If you put these numbers into a Vacation Rental By Owner search without dates you will be able to view each listing.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
This building received the CAROLOPOLIS AWARD for historic preservation in 1999 and belongs to a collection of important, historic buildings. Not all the buildings that you see photographed are of equal quality.

The Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood has become the hottest, most vibrant area in town. The list of outstanding RESTAURANTS is spectacular. The Grocery, Hominy Grille, Five Loaves, Chez Nous, Wild Flour Bakery, The Macintosh, Sugar Bake Shop, Cannon Green, Goulette Bistro, D'Alessandros Pizza, Fuel, The Darling Oyster are just some we could list. You can find anything that suits your fancy.

There are also copious SHOPS and Boutiques in walking distance--West Elm, Beads on Cannon, Filigree, Mac and Murphy, Indigo and Cotton. There are day spas, salons and close by yoga studios.
The College of Charleston campus with live oaks dripping with SPANISH MOSS is a few blocks south. The Marion Square MARKET held every Saturday is also a few blocks away as is the trendy CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

However, if the BEACH calls, you you can effortlessly access highway 17 north to Sullivans Island and the Isle of Palms, or south to Folly Beach, Kiawah Island or Wadmalaw Island. That route will also take you to the famed plantations and historic homes (Drayton Hall, Middleton Place, Magnolia Gardens).

NOISE
Charleston has a strict noise ordinance that forbids loud noises that can be heard outdoor, day or nighttime. We expect our neighbors to abide by this rule. If you experience disturbing noise we would ask you please contact us rapidly (at any time) so we can have the noise stopped. We can’t intercede unless we know about it!

CANCELLATIONS and TRAVEL INSURANCE

Please note trip insurance is comfortably bought through Vacation Rental By Owner. We cannot buy it but you can and we are thrilled to reduce our rate if you buy it. We do not accept cancellations or exchanges for any reason outdoor the 60 day cancellation period. Please be aware of this especially during hurricane season.

Money Saving Rental Tips

  • Many property management companies and vacation properties supply Charleston area area travel discount magazines that feature promotions, either offered individually by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the store itself. These guides may provide an excellent start to your rental home search.
  • Are your travel dates flexible? The off-peak seasons typically offer fantastic rates on rental accommodations.
  • Are you a military veteran? Several management companies offer discounted rates to vets and active-duty military. Make sure to ask vacation rental company to see if your visiting crew qualifies for a rate reduction.
  • Some vacation rentals are essentially catered to specific clients, whether it's downtown homes with weekly pier passes, city-center condos with close access to night life or waterfront homes that have private boat launching areas. Make sure to prioritize your proximity to the outdoor activities and attractions you are most looking forward to.
  • Think about purchasing trip insurance together with your lease contract. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the basic vacation rental cost, offers vacationers reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed a result of medical emergencies or hurricanes, in addition to ensuing extra hurricane evacuation costs or expenses, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel.

How to Book a Vacation Home

Newcomers are sometimes surprised at the number and wide range of short-term rentals available in the Charleston area area. With such a big selection, renters are sure to find a rental home that fits their expectations and price range.

The vast majority of vacation rentals in Charleston area are privately owned and many are represented by well-known local property management companies. Property management companies leverage scale, staff and knowledge to provide hassle-free operational management on behalf of the property owner..

Here are some ideas and tricks to help you understand the rental home search and booking process.

How to find and book the perfect vacation rental:

Before you decide to book "(A3)StepsAway Historic Charm + Modern Luxury, 1 block to King St, Porch and Parking", review our short checklist of factors to consider.

The Sooner, The Better

Charleston area rental properties are reserved many months (and up to a year) in advance. For the greatest selection, begin your planning and search 6-Twelve months prior to your trip. Many families choose to begin their search during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year gatherings.

Find your Spot and Decide Dates

Start by figuring out which specific area of Charleston area you want to visit, and the choose trip dates.

Decide on a Size

How many relatives are planning to share your getaway? Remember that that a lot of rental homes list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in the living room. It is important to figure out what is most appropriate for the family. Precise descriptions of bedrooms and beds are usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the home.

Exactly What Are You Prepared to Pay?

Does the preferred vacation property fit your budget during that prime Summer week? If several groups or loved ones are sharing the cost, make sure that each party understands their obligations and has agreed to a maximum they are prepared to pay. One individual in your company must be given the task of getting contributions and agreeing to responsibility for the entire rental fee at time of reservation.

Its All About Amenities

What home features is your family searching for? Is a screened deck a requirement? Does the property need to be beach front, the downtown area, or in close proximity to wildlife? Are linens offered with the rental contract, or will you need to take your own? Build a list of priority amenities to facilitate filter your search.

Accessibility and Special Issues

Proper accessibility could make or break a visit for the less-mobile. Be sure to remember and inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment requirements..

Your Dog Needs a Vacation, Too

Be sure to include your best friend! Animals are welcome at a number of rental properties, but policies can vary. Read your contract carefully! Additional fees or deposits may be applied to your contract.

Searching the Internet

A number of websites exist to match vacationers with rental home owners.. In combination with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we suggest searching Google for "Charleston area local rental properties" for local vacation rental management companies. Local property management companies proudly offer an exceptional rental experience.

Negotiate the Price

When you've identified your dream rental, check to confirm your trip dates are available.

Some rental owners will negotiate prices, and some will not. If they are hesitant to budge on a peak-season trip, try getting an extra night. Off-peak weeks will be negotiable more frequently than peak-season..

Know Who to Call

Make sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend saving the contact's details in your smart phone and wallet.

Congratulations on reserving your vacation home! You're on the right path to a terrific vacation!

During your Stay

  • Take pictures on your arrival. Record the condition of the rental home right away. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report your findings. This can protect against disputes during check out.

  • Remember to be a good next-door neighbor. . Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a vacation significantly more pleasurable.
  • Ask a local. Residents are a good source of suggestions.
  • Enjoy your stay! Make sure that you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the vacation rental secured while you are away, exactly like you would in your own home.

At the end of your stay

  • Double-check each space of the rental to confirm you've packed all possessions.
  • Be sure to walk through the rental home one final time and check for damages. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever feasible (often this isn't possible).. If the property owner is not available, make certain to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a blast? Most vacation rental websites request comments after your stay is complete. Property owners and property managers will thank you for glowing recommendations. If anything went wrong, we advise being kind but sincere with regards to rental experience. The best owners and managers will try very hard to correct the problem.

Learn from your Stay

Hold a debrief with your travel companions. Did everyone have a good time? If everything was exceptional, next year's vacation planning is going to be simple. If not, you've gained invaluable experience that will help with the next search.
