Tips to get the very best Charleston area rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Charleston area rental home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 117 Seascape by AvantStay
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
