Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Downtown Charmer! 3BD\/3BA ? 2 Blocks to King has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
