Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To get the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking a perfect Charleston area rental home:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Condo in Wild Dunes! Community Pool! Great View Looking at Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

Know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
