Our top Isle of Palms rental booking tips:
Finding the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the most suitable rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have deals for local tours and attractions.
How to pick the perfect rental:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 303 D Port O Call by AvantStay
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you long to visit, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.

Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review.
