Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing the best rental:

  • To start, have your family decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. King 583, Charleston, 2 Bedroom Standard has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

During your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
