Finding the best Charleston vacation home experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by having your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Downtown Whole House Rental Steps to King St has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
