Our top Charleston area vacation rental booking tips:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the bestrental:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Downtown Whole House Rental Steps to King St has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective.
