Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:

When to book a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 3 Bedroom Downstairs Unit - 3 Blocks to King St. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
