•One parking spot for this quintessential Charleston single home, this apartment is located on the second floor of one of Charleston's special historic homes. You enter the home through street steps onto the first floor piazza and then up the steps to the second floor overlooking treetops and rooftops. Now enter the apartment from the second floor piazza into a huge high ceilinged GREAT ROOM with charming wood floors, a sizable dining room table. The brand new KITCHEN with elegant cabinetry and quartz counter is tucked away to the rear of this light-filled "great room". The granite counter with barstools is an inviting gathering space where you can visit, watch the prepare or savor a glass of wine. The kitchen has a complete supply of dishes and cookware. We have tried to add items that would make entertaining a joy.

LIVING ROOM/4TH BEDROOM
To the left are double folding doors leading into the enormous living room with classic fireplace. The room is furnished with 4 velvet swivel chairs on brass legs and a top of the line, handsome couch sleeper with gel queen bed.

In one corner, next to the fireplace, is a very clever and complete BATHROOM (2nd) with roomy granite shower with handsome glass door. Guests can use this room as a 4th bedroom with a very secure door.

The great room where you enter and the well equipped kitchen complement the gracious living room along with the piazza to make a comfortable and handsome space for friends and family to mix and socialize in a typical Charleston setting.

MASTER BEDROOM
Off of the dining room to the right is a modest but comfortable bedroom (BR 1) with queen bed, a pretty window and closet and an entrance to the BATHROOM (1) with a soaking tub/shower. This bathroom can also be entered from the entrance room so also serves as another guest/common bathroom.

DORMER ROOMS
Between the kitchen and the living room is a appealing spiral staircase leading to two super striking DORMER ROOMS (2&3), each with their OWN BATH (2&3). These rooms have the oldest and prettiest floors of any of our properties The triple windows look over the rooftops and are a joy to experience. Each of these rooms has a King Bed with the idea that there is plenty of room for couples or singles that want the bigger bed size to share. Of course the space is ideal for kids but also a couple would be happy since each room has total privacy including closet space and desks.

The space is under the dormers so a tall person will duck if getting in and out from the sides. The middle space in front of the window is full height. Let us know your preference so we can have it set up the way you want.

Each apartment has something special but this might be our favorite. It is handsome and provides an opportunity for our guests to receive their guests as a Charlestonian would. The three apartments in this building are all separate but connect through the piazzas and provide the ideal space to be together and separate.

Getting the best vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in Charleston. Book your Charleston area rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation home:

  • First, have your family choose dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. (8C) Alexander Wilson House at St. Philip Square has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area beach you simply love, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
