Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 54 Pelican Bay by AvantStay
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
