Tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Charleston area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:

  • First, have your group commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Modern Studio Apartment in Historic Building on Broad Street has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
