Finding the best Charleston rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Charleston area vacation home:

  • To start, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Modern condo & linked suite with a full kitchen, balcony, & rooftop deck has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
