Charleston area rental home booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the best rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best rental in Charleston:

  • First, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Fun Modern Downtown Home w\/ Parking, Balcony's, and Backyard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
