Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Sun Deck & Courtyard - Pet Friendly - Across from Beach - Townhouse has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
