Tips for getting the best Charleston area rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental home:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Sawyer & Jessamine by AvantStay
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
