How to book the best Charleston area rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Start by having your group decide on vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Unique Marina Location has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
