Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local tours and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation rental:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Luxury Beachfront Home w\/ Pool & Gorgeous Patios has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
