Charleston area vacation rental booking tips:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Classic Style Sullivan's Island house - Very Charming! 2 blocks to beach/ 1 Month Minimum Only! has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
