Strategies to get the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Charleston area rental:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Hasell Street -2 Bedroom has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
