Our top Isle of Palms rental booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer time is high season in Isle of Palms. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best vacation home in Isle of Palms:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Centrally located condo, Complex pool, Pier access, Close to beach - 204A Oceanside has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
