Charleston area rental home booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- 1 Block from King St has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
