How to book the best Charleston vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home:

  • First, have your family select a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Peaceful downtown condo with a full kitchen, balcony, & rooftop deck has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
