Tricks and tips to get the optimal Charleston area rental home experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Charleston. To book the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 2BR w\/ en suite baths Historic, Comfortable & Walkable Downtown Apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
