Strategies for getting the best rental home experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Charleston area attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book your prefect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Sullivans Retreat Amazing Views on Conch Creek, Pet Friendly 30 Night Min. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
