How to get the best Charleston vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the best rental:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful Ground Floor Condo Just 1 Block to King has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
