Strategies to get the very best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Book your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Downtown Condo Steps to King St Restaurants & Bars has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
