Tips and Tricks for getting the best Charleston vacation home experience:

Get the best value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • To book the most suitable rental within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. ? THE INNS ? 10 Bedroom Luxe Downtown Home! has 10 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
