Our top Rental home tips:

When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • House in Charleston has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area beach you are enamored with, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
