How to book the best Charleston area vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Home With Private Pool 'The Blue Lagoon' has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
