How to find the best vacation property experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation home in the Charleston area area:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Renovated 2 Bedroom Home - Ashley Ave - Downtown! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. text the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
