Our top Isle of Palms vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental:

  • Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Condo in Wild Dunes! Community Pool! Great View of Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is right for your vacation.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Have a great stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
