Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
