Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

When to go & When to book:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Select vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Bright Furnished Condo. 3 Mins to Downtown, 10 to Folly Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
