Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Reserve your Charleston area rental home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
