Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- To get the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. The Lodge Alley Inn™ - Studio has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of problems.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
