Vacation rental home tips:

Getting the best rental value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Charleston. Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best vacation home in Charleston:

  • Start by having your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Lodge Alley Inn, Charleston, South Carolina, Studio has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
