You’ll begin your stay with a designated private parking space which is steps away from the front door of the bungalow. If you are looking for an extraordinary stay in a awesome bungalow, close to everything Charleston has to offer, look no further. Not convinced…read our reviews.

Recent guest review...What a excellent home away from home! Sidney and Margie have a handsome bungalow! It’s modern and new. Margie could double as a home interior designer and Sidney as a top chef baker and master Gardner! We had everything we needed and then some! The place was shining clean and bright and airy. The patio area and backyard getaway were magnificent. We appreciated wine on the private patio multiple nights during our weeklong stay. We arrived to find wine, homemade cookies, and chocolates in the bungalow. We drove and really appreciated the on premise parking space. We drove to many Charleston destinations during our stay but opted to Uber downtown. It was convenient and a little cheaper than paying for downtown parking. You can’t go wrong with The Backyard Cottage! Thank you Sidney and Margie! We’ll be back!

The bungalow is equipped for two (2) adults only. Cleanliness and privacy are our top priorities when we travel, that is what you'll find here at The Backyard Cottage. In our backyard you may find us gardening, working on a project or playing with grandchildren. We spend a lot of time on our back porch which you must walk past to get to the bungalow, however we cannot see your patio from the porch.

Thank for looking! We hope to see you soon!

The gardens are peaceful and peaceful in our backyard and you are invited to appreciate them at your leisure.

Also in our backyard is our workshop, there may be a project going on or they may simply be a retired gent piddling around and me gardening, or you might see us playing with our grandchildren on the swing set or searching for lizards…we will always be respectful of your stay and privacy.

Tricks and tips to get the optimal Charleston area rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer time is high season in Charleston. Reserve your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book a perfectrental:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Charleston Cottage! Absolutely stunning! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
