About this Property

  • Sleeps 6
  • 3 Bedrooms
  • 2 Bathrooms
  • Private vacation home
  • Approximately 2600 square feet

We have lovingly restored our splendid 1870 Victorian home located in Charleston's coveted Historic Downtown and freshly added a brand new gourmet kitchen. We have a downstairs parlor and an upstairs living area as is customary in the south. Upstairs features three bedrooms and there are two full bathrooms in the home. There are four fireplaces in the home, tennis courts just down the street and a playground around the corner. We look out over a park and are two blocks from the harbor. Sip some tea on either the front porch or have lunch on the back porch looking out over the enormous backyard gardens with a grassy area and a alluring Italian pergola covered in wisteria, roses and gardenias. We are an allergy-complimentary home and have no family pets or smoking here.

We are in the ideal location to walk (or bicycle) to all the historic landmarks downtown - famed Rainbow Row, grandiose antebellum homes of the Battery, the Old Exchange, Pineapple Fountain, museums, harbor, market, etc. We are also walkable to the shopping and the many great eateries that Charleston is known for. Or perhaps you feel like grilling on either the gas or Weber charcoal grilles on the back porch while calming and appreciating the striking garden while the kiddos play in the grassy yard. The home is just a short drive to the handsome beaches and plantations. Travel +Leisure has named Charleston the #1 City in the United States and the #2 City in the World five years in a row and when you arrive - you'll see why. Charleston has it all - elegant white sand beaches, impressive plantation homes with ancient oaks lining the drive, cobblestone streets and more. Time moves differently here and we welcome you to sit back and appreciate our southern hospitality! Please note - this home is available for monthly units only.

Vacation rental tips:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the perfect vacation home in Charleston:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Quintessential Victorian Charmer in Heart of Charleston's Historic Downtown has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
