Our top Rental booking tips:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. Book your Charleston area rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting the best rental in the Charleston area area:

  • First, have your family commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Perfect second row 9 bedrooms, private pool, elevator, ocean views!! has 9 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
