Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- To get the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the right Charleston area vacation home:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Legal Historic Downtown Charleston 13 Bedroom Compound With Parking has 14 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
