Money Saving Strategies

  • Many rental owners and rental houses supply Charleston area area printed travel catalogs that feature money-saving offers, either offered individually by vendors, or through a relationship between the property manager and the business itself. These guides may provide an excellent start to your vacation rental search.
  • Are your travel dates flexible? Off-peak times offer significant deals.
  • Are you a military veteran? Several vacation rental companies provide financial savings to veterans and active-duty servicemembers. Make sure to check with vacation rental company to see if your travelling group qualifies for a special offer.
  • Is there a certain experience that you are most longing for ? Be sure to prioritize your proximity to the outdoor activities and attractions you are most interested in.
  • Consider investing in trip insurance with your rental agreement. Trip insurance, which generally costs somewhere between 1% - 5% of the base term rate, provides travellers reimbursement of their rental costs for any nights missed a result of personal medical emergencies or hurricanes, and additionally ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or expenses, like an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforseen occurs (heaven forbid!).

General Rental Information

First-timers are often times surprised at the range and wide variety of short term properties available in the Charleston area area. With such a wide selection, clients are sure to select a rental that matches their wishes and spending plan.

Rentals are often owner operated or managed by rental management companies. Vacation rental management companies leverage scale, staff and knowledge to provide convenient operational management on behalf of the property owner..

Seasoned Charleston area vacationers have identified a handful of tips and tricks over the years when it comes to renting rental homes, however many beginners will be happy to realize that many of these "tips" are in plain sight, if you know where they should search.

Finding and booking the best rental home:

Before you decide to book "Free Golf Cart Use for all Weekly Rentals in Wild Dunes Resort", examine our short checklist of factors to consider.

Search Early and Often

Charleston area rental homes start booking early. To find the best selection, begin your planning and search 6-12 months before a trip. A lot of groups choose to begin their search during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve holiday gatherings.

Choose your Area and Travel Week

Sometimes, the hardest portion of organizing your vacation is choosing where to search, and when. As soon as the big decisions are tackled, the rest is easier.

Choosing an Correctly-Sized Rental property

How many relatives are joining your getaway? Remember that that most rentals advertise maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in the home's living room. You will need to determine what is most appropriate for your company. Generally rental home listings will describe each of the unit's specific bedrooms and mattresses.

What Exactly Are You Prepared to Shell out?

Will the chosen rental property suit your budget during that choice Summer week? If a few groups or relatives are sharing the cost, always make sure that each person understands their responsibility and has agreed to a maximum they are willing to pay. Most rental documents call for a single individual to be responsible for the whole reservation.

Compose a list of "Wishes" and "Requirements"

What home features is your group trying to find? Do you want a rental home with patio dining area? Will the unit need to be oceanfront, in town, or in close proximity to restaurants? Are items like beach chairs, barbecue grills, umbrellas, beach carts or coolers at your disposal and included with your rental payment? Gather a list of prioritized "needs and desires" from your group to help filter your search to the most suitable property.

Accessibility and Special Concerns

Do a few members of your crew have specialized needs? If wheel chair entry, elevators, pool lifts or other specialized devices are required, factor that into your search. Most rental listings include a list of amenities.

Go ahead and Take the Dog

Are you or other members of the family traveling with a furry companion? While many rentals permit dogs and cats, guidelines and charges vary per property. Many constraints could eliminate a potential vacation property. Study your contract thoroughly! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement. If in doubt, ask the property manager and get it in writing.

Its Time to Search

. Together with Homeaway, VRBO and Tripadvisor, we advise searching Google for "Charleston area local vacation homes" for local vacation rental management companies. Apart from having exceptional rental properties, local companies provide you with top-notch service..

Re-read the description to make certain that the vacation rental has everything you need. If something is missing, the rental management company may know of comparable properties that better suit your style and budget..

Some rental owners will negotiate prices, and some won't. If the rate isn't negotiable, the number of nights may be. Your greatest chance of a reduced rate is shifting to an off-season week.

Study The Agreement

Discover which of the following is included in your quoted rate:

  • Utilities
  • Internet
  • Phone service
  • Pool Heating
  • Pay Per View Movies
  • Housekeeping
  • Trash Pickup (and which day?)
  • Maintenance policies
  • Key exchange
  • Parking Space

Make sure your quoted fee includes all taxes and fees.

Cancellation Policies

Cancellation policies vary for each vacation rental. You will likely be offered trip insurance. Trip insurance, which frequently costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of your standard rental home price, provides travellers with reimbursement of their vacation costs (and subsequent rental costs) for any nights missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or storms, and additionally hurricane evacuation costs, such as a unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas.

Book your Rental

Once you feel you've identified "the one", begin the booking process. You'll likely be required to submit a security deposit at time of reservation.

Where to Get Help

Remember to get the property manager's contact phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend saving the contact's information in your smartphone and wallet.

Good luck on booking your vacation home! You're on the right path to a phenomenal vacation!

During your Stay

  • Take notes of any damages right after you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to report your findings.
  • You could need guidance for a gas fireplace, Television set or hot tub. Get in touch with your home manager. They are there to assist. A quick phone call helps prevent many head aches.
  • Remember to respect your nearby neighbors. Often times, adjacent households are occupied by permanent locals. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a visit a little more pleasant.
  • Ask a local. Residents are a fantastic source of suggestions.
  • Enjoy your stay! Make certain to protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the home secured when you are away, just like you would at home.

Check Out Time

  • Check to make sure you've packed all your things. Sweep each room in the home for forgotten items. Check bathrooms, the garage, kitchen cabinets, porches, the pool area, and anywhere else your personal property might "hide".
  • Once everything is out, perform a walk-through of the rental home to confirm no damage occurred in the course of your remain. If you can, do this walk-out inspection with the property manager present. If the property manager is not available, make sure to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you love your stay? Just about all rental management companies and rental search sites make it easy for renters to give feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was top-notch, they'll appreciate your praise. If something went wrong, we recommend being kind but genuine in regards to your experience. Top owners and managers will work very hard to correct the issue.

Learn and Improve

Did everybody have a blast? If everything was outstanding, next year's family vacation planning will be easy. If the rental home was not perfect, and you will better know how to improve your search for the next trip.
