About this Property

  • Sleeps 4
  • 2 Bedrooms
  • 2 Bathrooms
  • Private vacation home
  • Approximately 800 square feet

This freshly re-furnished unit offers all a family needs to have a safe, but fun get away in handsome Charleston. With complimentary parking, no shared surfaces or spaces, a completely outfitted kitchen and comfortable porch to relax on, we are confident this space will provide a restful reprieve from Charleston's hot summer sun.

Located in a cozy English Basement, this welcoming 2-bedroom, 2-bath garden level apartment offers visitors convenient access to all that Charleston has to offer. Housed in a historic Charleston single home constructed in the late 1800s, the apartment is steps from the city’s best stores and eateries and is comfortably walkable to MUSC and the College of Charleston.

The apartment newly underwent a full remodel, finished in spring 2017. Measuring just under 800 square feet, the apartment offers 2 bedrooms each featuring premium linens and its own full bathroom with shower. Thoughtful care has been put into crafting a clean and efficient space that offers all of the amenities of a boutique hotel (bath products, high-end towels and linens, hair dryers, iron, wi-fi, premium TV channels, etc.) with the added convenience of a full, chef-ready kitchen, washer/dryer, and a classic Charleston single-style porch for appreciating the nearly year-round cozy temperatures Charleston offers its visitors.

Free parking is offered for guests in a private parking lot located across from the apartment.

This apartment is on the lower level of the three-story property. The home features two additional units on the first and second floors, which can be rented in conjunction with this apartment for bigger groups. Please inquire if interested.

Visitors can shop for tailored menswear at Indigo & Cotton located directly across from the apartment; indulge in the city’s most striking bakery – Sugar Bakeshop - located just across the street from the rental; and peruse the selection of handmade bags and leather goods at J. Stark, just down the block.

Many of the city’s most notable eateries are located in the Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood, or an painless walk from the rental. In an October 2017 Thrillist article on where to eat in and around Charleston now – 11 of the 29 Charleston eateries listed are in simple walking distance to the home (the rest, an easy car or cab ride away): O-Ku, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, Chez Nous, The Darling Oyster Bar, The Grocery, Indaco, The Ordinary, Xiao Bao Biscuit, Warehouse, Chubby Fish.

Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to choose and book the perfect Charleston area vacation home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Garden Retreat - Perfect for Small Families has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area beach you love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
