Finding the best Charleston rental home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • 4 Blocks to King! has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
