Strategies for getting the perfect rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental in the Charleston area area:

  • To start, have your family select dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Downtown Cannonborough Bed and Bath in Historic House Condo.

  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If not, email or call the host before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental.
